WOULD YOU RATHER PREFER TO BE DEAF OR BLIND?

Culled from Cartoon Movement
I can remember vividly when I was attending Professor J. A. Ademokoya's class at the University of Ibadan, the primer University. He used to ask us a question then if we had a choice to be Deaf or Blind, which one would we go for? After some thought he answered and said he would rather go blind because he believes that hearing is the most important sense as hearing will empower him and help him to lead everyday life without any form of barriers, limitations or hindrances, it will also enable him to socialize, relate, communicate and stay connected with the world as deafness will isolate one. Even Helen Keller, who was deafblind, often quoted: Blindness cuts you off from things, but deafness cuts you off from people.

BUT IS HEARING MORE IMPORTANT THAN SEEING? Well, let's go this way:

Blindfolded

If you blindfold yourself for a day, you won't be able to cook, you won't be able to drive, you won't be able to watch TV, you won't be able to use your phone or laptop, you won't be able to read a book, you won't even be ready to go to GYM and so many inconveniences to the point that you will get off your blindfold immediately.

Earplugged

Now if you wear earplug yourself, OMG! It will be like you are stone Deaf, so inconvenient but guess what you can still cook, swim, play with your phone or laptop, go to GYM, club, watch TV, etc. and drive, and you can always communicate to anyone with a pen and paper or phone.

So please I will rather be DEAF lol!

NOW DROP YOUR OPINIONS.

  1. I think both deafness and blindness have their own challenges and advantages and some people may prefer to be deaf because they can still see the world and communicate with sign language or lip reading... Others may prefer to be blind and because they can still hear the sounds of nature and music and use their other senses to perceive their surroundings. there is no right or wrong answer to this question as it depends on one’s personal preferences and values.
