Dad gets sweet implant tattoo for his deaf daughter

Charlotte Campbell age 6 with her dad Alistair who had a cochlear implant tattooed on his head to support Charlotte who is deaf.

Charlotte, 6, who had her first implant put in at the age of 4 in 2013, has just had her second one put in at Gillies Hospital. In a gesture of support, her father, Alistair Campbell, had his own "implant" tattooed on the left side of his head recently. Mr. Campbell, who had no other tattoos, said he wanted to do it to show her that he could go through a little bit of pain for her too.

SUBTITLES ON TV AND MOVIES

As I grew up being hearing impaired, I have always been glued to the TV but not able to follow up with news or movies so one day when my dad came in from an outing, he took the remote and turned on subtitle for me, I was so excited and ever since, I have been depending on subtitles when I want to watch TV or movies because if it is not on, then I would not be able to follow up and I will lose interest soon after.

In Deaf world, we cannot hear what is being said on the TV or Movies so we depend on subtitles and it carry us along too when we are watching along with hearing people. Thanks go to those who initiated subtitles and also to those who have the heart to put the subtitles on TV and movies.

TOP FIVE THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW BEFORE LEARNING NSL/ASL

1. It's not easy as some think it is.
Some people jump in high aspirations and have no real training in using ASL in their everyday things. You must go through school. We recommend at least a bachelors degree minimum. Many people call me up and ask me to do a program for their kids or at schools and these students (children and adults) always think that if they pass my beginning Sign class, they're qualified to work as an interpreter or something using ASL.

AMERICAN SIGN LANGUAGE (ASL) uses signs, gestures, specific facial expressions, non-manual movements, and the like to express feelings, ideas, and concepts visually. It uses no voice, but does have facial grammar (non-manual markers, mouth morphemes).  It uses a completely

A Message to Nigerians on Peaceful Elections, 2015

Even after the postponement of the Nigerian general elections which was originally scheduled for February 14th, 2015 to March 28th, 2015 and It is now a day to election, which is the weekend we have been waiting for because we would have the opportunity to choose the leader we want. Please let us not take this opportunity lightly because how we use it could affect everything and everyone after. We expect everyone to vote on Saturday which is tomorrow and our voting guide is very simple.

If you love the way things are at the moment then vote TRANSFORMATION, but if you feel something is wrong with the nation then vote CHANGE but you can also try other political party.

No matter what is being reported in the news, I believe that peace will reign in our land. I also believe we will have a better government, better leaders and a better nation. It may not be easy, it may cost us a lot but eventually, it will happen.

Finally, please say no to VIOLENCE on elections. In spite of over 250 languages we have in Nigeria, we are still ONE. I urge all Nigerians, from all religions, all ethnic groups in all regions to come together and keep Nigeria one. Wishing everyone GOODLUCK on elections.
